Kenwood house bats an eyelid

Posted by news desk in Local News, 22nd May 2008, 12:30pm

Kenwood House has hosted concerts for 55 years. Last year, they were cancelled due to noise complaints from local residents.

However, this year they are back, for eight weeks this summer, and the stage has been moved to a new location.

Whilst each concet usuallt finishes with a fireworks display, this has been limited to just one night due to a nearby colony of bats.

All bats are protected by law, and Hampstead Heath is designated as a site of maximum priority for wildlife protection.

It was decided that if the firework show is restricted to just one event at the end of the season the impact would not be harmful to the bats.
